About Us

The Ortho Lab started as an in-house lab of an Orthodontist Practice back in the 1960’s as it was recognised that having an internal team to produce the appliances was the most practical solution, and this has continued to the present day, the Orthodontists may have changed but the original lab is still in the same building supplying both the in-house Orthodontists and a range of Local, National and International Clients needs from a central location in the West Midlands.

The current owner started as a technician at the lab in 1993 having spent the previous 10 years working his way from an apprentice in Prosthetics at the Maurice Hood Dental Lab, developing his interest in Orthodontics and gaining qualifications and training in this at College as well as developing a practical knowledge from time spent working at Top Labs to run their Prosthetic Department, and then at Jubilee Dental Lab where he continued producing Prosthetics and because of his acquired knowledge and skill in Orthodontic Appliances was responsible for the production of those too.

The business has grown since that time from an in-house supply arm to an Orthodontic Practice to the company that it is today that services the needs of Orthodontists in the UK and Overseas, producing all types of Orthodontic Appliances including Industry standard fixed, functional and removable , bleaching trays , Mouthguards and sundry items as well as retainers developed with clients over the years to match their specific needs.

The team is led by Dave and his highly gifted and experienced technicians who have been working as part of the team for over 15 years and are all fully qualified and GDC registered.

It is this that has been instrumental to our growth over the years, our senior Technicians oversee the production of all appliances and quality check each appliance before it is approved to be delivered to our clients.  This same process is in place in our Casting Department, where every impression is checked before being cast to ensure quality from initial phase.  Any concerns are always brought to the Clinicians attention.

The quality ethos that was instilled as an apprentice remains in place to this day.  We understand that wearing an Orthodontic Appliance can be challenging so we do our upmost to ensure the patients comfort whilst wearing one of our appliances.  We ensure that we are quality vigilant at all stages from the selection of our raw materials, to the quality and detail of the initial moulds, right through to the finished appliance.

This principle has helped to establish our laboratory as a highly regarded and recommended laboratory for Orthodontic, Cosmetic and General Dentist Practices around the world.

50 years on from when we first started we continue to develop our team, the products that we produce and our client base, we no longer just service the needs of Orthodontists we supply many bleaching trays and Mouthguards to Dentists across the country and fulfil their requirement for quality products at cost effective prices.
